Lepard and Suvajac - Top 20 Under 29

Earlier this summer the Westender's editorial staff and contributing writers selected a diverse group of 20 Vancouverites under 29 who are making the world a more interesting place. Amongst the 20 outstanding individuals were 2008 graduates Nick Lepard, a visual artist represented by the Diane Farris Gallery and Alex Suvajac, an industrial designer with a passion for sustainable design.

A1203 2Si02 2H20 is an exhibition in the medium of unfired clay featuring the works of 2008 graduates Marianne Chenard, Juliana Greaves, Claire Henry, Margaret Matsuyama and Dawn Vachon. The exhibit will be accompanied by a sale of the artists' works.

Yellow Sticky Notes

One of the hottest clips on YouTube is Yellow Sticky Notes by animator Jeff Chiba Stearns (01). Since being posted earlier this month, Jeff's film has had over 600,000 hits. Yellow Sticky Notes won Best Animation at the 61st Yorkton Short Film and Video Festival, which qualifies it for a Genie Award, and also won the Best Animation award at the Canadian Awards for Electronic and Animated Arts.

David Khang (00) will be introducing his new work I Have(Had) A Dream at the 9th annual Visualeyez Performance Festival, sponsored by Latitude 53, Edmonton, Alberta.

The 9th Annual Visualeyez festival of performance art takes place from July 18-28, 2008 in the downtown core of Edmonton, Alberta with the curatorial theme of Justice.

Grace Gordon-Collins: Royal Canadian Academy of Art

Grace Gordon-Collins (04) was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Art in June of this year in Toronto. One of her artworks from her series Interior Life was shown at the Moore Gallery in Toronto along with the 17 other inductees receiving this honour. Grace's work can be viewed on her website at www.gracegordon-collins.ca
