ECU’s Board of Governors is the senior governing body at the university and functions in a shared governance model with the university’s Senate. The board is primarily responsible for overseeing the administration and control of the property, financial concerns and business affairs of the university. The ECU board is composed of 15 members who are passionate advocates for the university and supporters of the arts.

Nominations are encouraged for candidates who reflect the diversity of our community, including women, persons with diverse gender expressions and identities, persons of all sexual orientations, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and First Nations, Metis, Inuit and Indigenous persons. Consideration will be given to individuals from all parts of the province who have a strong interest in the arts and a broad range of skills and experience in community, labour, and business environments. At this time, the board is particularly seeking individuals with experience in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, fundraising, strategic planning and/or financial expertise.

Nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the year. However, to address the most immediate board vacancies, nominations are requested by Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 11:59 pm for two externally appointed positions (one external member appointed by Cabinet, and one external member nominated by the ECU Alumni Association and appointed by Cabinet). Anyone from the ECU community is invited to submit a nomination through our nomination form.

All nominations received will be reviewed by the Board of Governors and/or the ECU Alumni Association and then may be referred to the Crown Agencies and Board Resourcing Office (CABRO) for recommendation to government for appointment decisions. Members of the public may also self-nominate for board vacancies for externally appointed positions by responding to public advertisements managed through CABRO.
