Continuing Studies is pleased to accept applications for Summer Program Assistantships for the Summer Institute for Teens and the Junior Art Intensive.

As a Summer Program Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting ECU’s programs. Program Assistants are assigned to studio classrooms and assist Instructors with classroom management and student engagement.

The Assistants support program logistics and administration including attendance, supplies, field trips, documentation, and final student exhibitions.

Program Assistants help ensure a positive and inclusive learning experience for all participants.

Summer Institute for Teens 2023

This four-week program is open to students ages 16-18 or who have completed Grade 10 by July 2023. This immersive pre-university program engages youth through focused studio practice, cross-studio collaborations, critiques, guest artist talks, and field trips. The program culminates with a final exhibition of student works in the Michal O'Brien Exhibition Commons and participation in an exhibition website.

We offer 11 on-campus studios in Painting, Drawing, Communication Design, Architecture + Environmental Design, Illustration, Animation, Filmmaking, Industrial Design, Game Design, UX Design and Creative Coding.

Schedule: July 4-28, Monday-Friday, from 9am to 4pm, with a 1-hour lunch break (unpaid).

Undergraduate students must be entering their 3rd year of studies (at minimum) to qualify for the position. Positions will be open until filled; review of candidates will begin on April 24th.

Junior Art Intensive 2023

This two-week program is open to students ages 13-15 or who have completed Grade 7 by July 2023. Working in a focused workshop environment, students will complete a variety of projects in painting, drawing, soft-sculpture and stop-motion animation. The program culminates with a final exhibition of student works in the Michal O'Brien Exhibition Commons and participation in an exhibition website.

Schedule: July 17-28, Monday-Friday, from 9am to 4pm, with a 1-hour lunch break (unpaid).
