Welcome back ECU students, faculty and staff!

The Library team is excited to welcome you back for a new semester. Although we can’t give you access to the physical space of the library we are offering limited on campus services as well as a full array of online services.

For the most up-to-date information on our library services during the pandemic, visit our Library Services + COVID-19 page or contact us at library@ecuad.ca

Contactless Pick Up

Now that the building is open to those who have completed the ECU COVID-19 Safety Training Orientation, we will be offering a contactless pick up service for students, faculty and staff. Place your holds online through the library catalogue, and when they’re ready we’ll let you know by email when you can come pick them up. Contactless pickup will take place at the main doors of the library. Please email library@ecuad.ca if you are having trouble accessing your library account.

The library will be open for contactless pick up:

  • Mondays 12:30-4:30 pm
  • Wednesdays 12:30-4:30 pm
  • Thursdays 10:00 am-2:00 pm

These days and times are subject to change based on staffing capacity.

Book Returns

We will also be accepting book returns. All items must be returned via the book drop on the exterior of the library, please do not hand materials directly to library staff. No late fines will be charged, therefore no special trip to return items is necessary at this time.

We invite community members, including alumni, who do not have access to the building to contact us at library@ecuad.ca to set up a time to bring back materials.

Safety

The university has published a safety plan and all staff, students and faculty are required to complete the COVID-19 Safety Training Orientation before accessing campus, to ensure that all community members understand how to stay safe and protect one another. All ECU staff, students and faculty must assess themselves daily for COVID-19 symptoms or possible exposures before accessing campus. ECU is using the BC COVID-19 self-assessment tool, created by the Government of BC.

A maximum of three library staff will be working on-site in the library, to ensure that we can meet physical distancing and occupancy requirements.

Although we take the recommended precautions to mitigate exposure, we cannot guarantee that all books will be uncontaminated, so we recommend washing your hands again after your visit. If you are concerned about contamination or are in a higher risk category, we suggest that you quarantine your items for 72 hours after pick up.
