Contemporary Wood Type Poster

The goal of this project was to create a contemporary interpretation of a wood type poster that was 17” x 50”. Using modern technology (the computer) to recreate these classical posters made on press machines is a challenge in itself. For this project, I chose to do a dessert recipe that was given to me by a professional chef. The idea was to choose the colours that I wanted to incorporate into the poster and he derived a fine chocolate dessert that suited the colour palette. I was able to find just the right amount of text to fill the whole poster as traditional wood type posters were full of text. Suitable colours were applied to each ingredient of the dessert which elicited imagery of what the dessert would actually look like if it was made. The poster was divided into three sections encompassing a title, the ingredient measurements, and the directions. My goal was to keep the poster in a semi-traditional state in terms of the grid structure the overall feel of the poster.
