ReefScapes: Sustaining Marine Habitats

description

Coral reefs are facing a variety of threats that include: Climate Change, Ocean Acidification, Coastal Developments, Pollution & Over Fishing. They are on course to become the first ecosystem that human-activity will eliminate entirely. This event is set to take occur before the end of the current century.

The ocean can better defend itself against these troubling threats if its systems are healthy. Research has shown artificial reef can help make the oceans more resilient.

> Design Objective: Develop a new concept & system that helps promote, repair & restore damaged reef habitats.

> Scope of Work: Challenge traditional artificial reef systems by redesigning the entire concept from the ground up. This alternative concept must address all the drawbacks associated with traditional models.

ReefScapes have the ability to jump-start the establishment of coral reefs in damaged and/or barren areas by creating quality habitat for fish, young corals and other marine organisms. ReefScapes provides innovative solutions for marine ecological enhancements to coastal developments, marine preserves, and environmental impact zones.
