Alphatime

description

Alphatime is a reading kit designed for children with dyslexia or language learning difficulties. The aim of my thesis undergraduate project was to uncover how communication design could provide language accessibility with visualisation, print production techniques and typography. Through primary and secondary research, user testing and various prototype iterations, I was able to employ a multisensory approach based on the Orton Gillingham method. The final design reveals four cummulative activities for children pertaining to important reading skills namely: letter recognition, phonological awareness, rhyming and spelling. Furthermore, children learn through activities that are kinesthetic, tactile, auditory and visual in manner helping them understand reading and English language better.
