Blockscape

description

Blockscape is a parklet concept for Vancouvers urban landscape.
Blockscape reclaims roadways to provide an engaging place for Vancouverites to sit, relax and socialize in high-traffic pedestrian corridors. Along with seating, Blockscape also acts as a creative outlet for pedestrians to express themselves within a public space. It uses wood and acrylic to form modular blocks of varying heights that represent the Vancouver cityscape abstractly; these blocks are arranged randomly, which promote various playful uses beyond simply seating. These forms illuminate at night as well as refract natural light during the day. Blockscape is inspired by the cityscape of Vancouver and Douglas Coupland’s city of glass.
