The Canoe Residency

The Canoe Residency is a collaborative effort with Erich Stussi, in which we are creating an ongoing artist residency in a canoe, and arranging for a series of ‘explorations’ through a range of both physical and conceptual spaces.

We are interested in facilitating creativity, trust and community through new relationships and experiences. Local artists are brought aboard for unique expeditions in which they are invited to create a piece of artwork and/or document a performance.

We see the canoe itself as a potential site for conversations, concerts, installations, studio-based art/design production – and the location of the canoe as an ever-changing and ephemeral way to interact with the environment of our West End neighbourhood. Transformation through transportation!
