Melody Muff

description

Up to one out of every 88 children has some form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), more than the number of children who are affected by diabetes, AIDS, or cancer.  ASD is almost five times more common in boys than in girls – with 1 in 54 boys.

A person with an ASD typically has some difficulties; one of the most important one is hearing impairment. In response to such need of these kids I designed a special hood/scarf that help them to relax and be able to communicate more effectively.

The Melody Muff includes a wireless headphone in a stand-alone hood; a weighted scarf attaches to the hood, that is designed to enwrap the autistic child to give them a sense of comfort, balance, keep them calm and preventing their repetitive behavior. Because the part of the brain that develops with music is fully functional in most autistic children, music emanating from the hood helps the wearer to focus their attention and communication. The weights are customized to meet the child’s needs depends on how much weight gives them better feeling.
