ANIM 307: Visual Effects Compositing

Image compositing in digital media production expands students' approach to visual iconography and design for the moving image. This course introduces digital video compositing techniques for visual effects. Using multi-layered compositions that incorporate colour correction, digital painting, masking, key-frame animation and colour keying, students will create video projects that integrate multiple image sources such as live action and computer graphics. Students learn essential production strategies for working with digital media.

Priority is given to both 2D and 3D ANIM students in Years 3 and 4. Students outside of the registration priority group may register/waitlist for this course as of the registration rule release date.

Prerequisites: 

Completion of 51 credits including 3 credits from 200 level ANIM, 2DAN, 2DAN, FMSA, NMSA, or ILUS
