ANIM 334: Visual Effects Animation

Using 3D computer animation and a variety of animation media, students apply an advanced understanding of animation principles to explorations with a range of visual effects animation techniques. The course focuses on particle systems, physical simulation, reactors, reflection, refraction and rendering techniques. Through presentations, workshops and assignments, students engage in observation and analysis of motion, form and light in the physical world, including atmospheric elements like wind, water, fire and smoke. Students create a series of short animation pieces, and may create elements of their senior animation projects within the course.

Priority is given to ANIM students in Years 3 and 4. Students outside of the registration priority group may register/waitlist for this course as of the registration rule release date.
