CEPR 162 SU01: Introduction to Silkscreen
Screen-printing techniques provide artists with a simple method of applying their images and ideas to a wide variety of materials and surfaces. Expand your image-making options by learning the basics of screen-printing to print your hand-drawn and photographic images onto paper and alternative surfaces. Lessons in concept development, screen and surface preparation, registration and preservation culminate in learning how to establish a studio practice for continued art production and explorations.

Please bring the following supplies to class: -------------------------------------------------- * 1 Solvex or Nitrile gloves * 1 Apron or work shirt * 1 Notebook or sketchbook * Photos or drawings to get started * 1 Drawing materials (sharpie, pens, pencils etc) * 2 22 x 30 Rives BFK 250 gms printmaking paper * 1 Old t-shirt to be used for rags * 1 masking tape * 1 Scotch tape * 1 x-acto knife * 1 scissors Note: additional printmaking papers and transparencies to be purchased after first class Additional printmaking inks - please do not purchase until discussed in class Estimated cost: $60.00 ***Please bring items marked with a '*' to your first class.*** NOTE: Photocopy/printer cards can be purchased from the vending machine outside the Emily Carr cafeteria. ***Present this ECUAD Registration Statement at Opus Framing & Art Supplies to qualify for a student discount.*** ***In order to minimize disruption, students are expected to arrive at class a minimum of 5 minutes prior to the designated start time.
