COMD 204 SU01: Type Comm: Characters & Text
This course introduces fundamental concepts in history, terminology, and type classification to students. Exercises and projects explore typography from micro to macro perspectives, including the study of letterforms, basic type composition, proportion and grids, hierarchy, legibility, and expression.

Robin Mitchell Cranfield is an illustrator and graphic designer specializing in illustrated books. Her studio specializes in fine book design for contemporary art galleries and for children.
Robin is the co-creator of the Windy series. In 2023 she released her fifth book for children, Wings, Waves, and Webs: Patterns in Nature with Greystone.
Robin’s work has been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), Kidscreen awards, and BolognaRagazzi. She holds a BDes from Emily Carr University and an MA in English, specializing in Print Culture, from Simon Fraser University.
