DRWG 215 S001: Drawing: The Human Figure
Employs the human figure as a basis for the study of gesture, line, plane, and volume in both two and three dimensions. This study serves as a reference for a broad range of approaches in various media. Students are encouraged to explore contemporary methods of drawing the human figure that consider various issues related to the politics of the body. Slide presentations, discussions, and critiques are an integral part of the course.

Neil Wedman is a full-time artist with a 30 year studio practice. Painting stands at the core of his work but he has devoted equal attention to drawings and works on paper including print editions, book-works and photographs.
He occasionally makes short films such as Forget Me (2000), Kane Titanic (2005) and White Album, White Zombie (2010-12).
In January 2012 his exhibition Selected Monochromatic Paintings and Works on Paper Part One opened at the Equinox Gallery in Vancouver. Part Two opens at the Charles H. Scott at ECUAD in Jauary 2013.
Neil Wedman lives and works in Vancouver where he was born and teaches at Emily Carr University and Simon Fraser University.
