GSMA 531: Design Advanced Studio I

This studio course emphasizes critical inquiry and studio practice as primary means for learning. The course blends rigorous individual and group critiques and provides a balanced integration of theory, practice, and production, with access to advanced technologies. The nature and practice of design will be investigated in order to understand the underlying principles that make the design of objects and communication possible and will synthesize theory and practice as necessary partners in design. The course actively promotes critical reflection, sustainability, the creative environment, and the intellectual context for experimentation and will take into account the creation, analysis and understanding of the interaction of culture and technology within social and cultural context.
