GSML 500: Grad Seminar in Research I

This course explores conceptions of research in creative production. Close study of key texts that define arts research, as well as creative work that exemplifies it, will support the development of students' creative practice. While the course explores the inherent problematics of the discourse, it assumes that methodologically developed creative outcomes constitute research; the role of research as it has functioned in media and visual art histories will underpin discussions, with a view to the evolution of the discourse and its role in the arts.
