NMSA 313: Public Art, Performance + Inst

This course is designed for students who wish to deepen their experience and understanding of working within and for an online environment. This course will explore online artworks such as site specific or web-based interventions, land-art, geographics, remote performance and installations. With the prevalence of online platforms and social networks, artworks can be situated within a particular geographical or geo-sociopolitical context. Students will consider how virtual placement and context shape the meaning of their content or, conversely, how a particular theme or subject must be realized in this arena to logically reflect the work. Students will consider how a web situated work or practice might internationalize their practices and their imaginations. The course may be offered face-to-face, or online.
