NMSA 322: TOUCH! App Art Interactions

This course is intended for artists and designers interested in creating experimental mobile art, games, or locative media. The course introduces authoring for iOS devices and encourages students to prototype a working project for mobile deployment. Students may produce iPad or iPhone projects, such as control interfaces for sound or visual performance or installation; simple game apps using animated objects, sound and interactive elements; augmented reality projects that blend mobile data with physical space. Students will demonstrate the ability to examine and critique media works with a high level of discourse and critical inquiry in relation to apps, locative and mobile art. In addition, students will effectively articulate the context of their work in relation to contemporary practices. Some experience with object-oriented or visual programming language is an asset.
