PNTG 210 S001: Thinking Through Painting
This studio course introduces students to conceptual, non-objective, and process-based painting practice and discourse through directed projects. Assignments explore contemporary and historical precedents within the discipline of experimental painting, including processes of collage, abstraction, and the use of non-traditional materials. Through this course, students will gain knowledge of the multiplicity of approaches to constructing a painting and the rich historical development of painting practices. Classes combine discussions, readings, demonstrations, and individual and group critiques.
