PNTG 216: Drawing for Painting
"Drawing for Painting" studies drawing as a preliminary step to painting. The curriculum includes compositional principles and energies, light studies (intensity, direction, quality), scale relationships of content/context, mood and emotional/psychological effects, surface qualities in reference to tactility, and the role of the artist's body kinaesthetically. The course should be considered a workshop and the production of idea variations would be the desired goal. Experimentation with media and a multiplicity of approaches will be encouraged.
