PNTG 312 SU01: The Figure + the Body
Focuses on painting the human body. Students develop critical and technical painting skills through projects that examine subjective and objective strategies for painting the human body. By producing a series of paintings students learn to apply a variety of acrylic and oil painting techniques. Through this process students develop their abilities to observe and describe. The genre is examined from both historical and contemporary perspectives.
6 credits 200 level PNTG and completion of 45 credits

Neil Wedman is a full-time artist with a 30 year studio practice. Painting stands at the core of his work but he has devoted equal attention to drawings and works on paper including print editions, book-works and photographs.
He occasionally makes short films such as Forget Me (2000), Kane Titanic (2005) and White Album, White Zombie (2010-12).
In January 2012 his exhibition Selected Monochromatic Paintings and Works on Paper Part One opened at the Equinox Gallery in Vancouver. Part Two opens at the Charles H. Scott at ECUAD in Jauary 2013.
Neil Wedman lives and works in Vancouver where he was born and teaches at Emily Carr University and Simon Fraser University.
