SCIE 203: The Physical Sciences

In this introduction to the physical sciences, students will examine how scientific method is used in the fields of physics and chemistry. Students will discuss different conceptual approaches that include the fundamental laws of the universe as well as the reactions, transformations and combinations of matter. Topics will be drawn from the nature of light and elementary particles to the study of the periodic table, chemical reactions and their implications for photography, film and other imaging technologies. The course will present tools particularly suited to the implications of the physical sciences in the art and design context.
