WRTG 200 SU91: Creative Writing

Andy Zuliani is a writer and media artist who lives and works in "Vancouver," a colonial fiction located on the unceded and stolen lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. Andy was educated at Simon Fraser University and at New York University, where his doctoral dissertation studied tropes of obstruction, frustration, and queered embodiment in the visual art and literature of the 1960s. 

Andy practices an empathy-based teaching approach which treats the classroom as a site for improvisation, expression, and mutual care. He has taught courses on the literature of idleness and lethargy, on the theatre of enclosure, and on bugs, bears, and other domestic unruliness. He currently teaches in the Humanities and Creative Writing streams, focusing on experimental, collaborative, and materially-driven writing practices.

Andy is currently at work on his second novel, The Garden of Closeness, as well as a critical monograph studying black squares, brick walls, and other forms of aesthetic obstruction.
