Buster Simpson’s conceptual / process-based art practice has been focused on urban environmentalism for more than four decades. From his home base in Seattle, he has traveled extensively, working collaboratively across disciplines, social spheres, and generations, to create an extensive body of work that inspires individuals and communities to be responsible environmental stewards.

Alwyn O’Brien: The Line and the Fold
Born and raised on Salt Spring Island, Alwyn O’Brien attended Sheridan College of Craft and Design in Oakville, Ontario, receiving her diploma in 2002. She earned her BFA from Emily Carr in 2004 and her MFA from the University of Washington in Seattle in 2010. She has attended creative residencies at Pilchuck Glass in Washington State, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine and the international wood-fired ceramics symposium in Kohila Parish, Estonia.

Please join us for a talk with artist Lyse Lemieux.
During her thirty year career, Lemieux has become known for her expanded drawing practice and more recently for her large scale wall drawings with collaged elements.
Lemieux graduated from UBC and has exhibited nationally and internationally including The Canadian Cultural Centre in Rome, La Commune di Perugia in Italy, Republic Gallery in Vancouver, Papier Art Fair in Montréal, Equinox Gallery in Vancouver, and Katzman Contemporary in Toronto.

Emily Carr University is pleased to announce Sean Lynch as the Fall 2016 Audain Distinguished Artist-in-Residence. Please join us in the ECU Theatre on October 6th for a talk by Lynch, which will be followed by a reception in the Charles H. Scott Gallery.
The Audain Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Program, funded by Michael Audain and the Audain Foundation for the Visual Arts, enables the University to bring the world’s leading contemporary artists to live and work in Vancouver for a one-to-three-month period. Guest artists and visiting lecturers are an integral part of the Emily Carr community. They complement students’ education and work with existing faculty, bringing new opportunities for collaboration and engagement.
Loving it is Easy, That's Why So Many People Do
Loving it is Easy, That's Why So Many People Do is an exhibition wherein artists explore their conscious participation in commodity fetishism. Featuring works and texts by Riley Cotter, Catherine de Montreuil, Diana Hanitzsch, Marisa Holmes, Shizen Jambor, Brigitte Patenaude, Kurtis Wilson and Tori Schepel. Organized by Lyndsay Pomerantz.
Currently on view in the Concourse Gallery.
