Master of Applied Arts 2017 Thesis Exhibitions

The Jake Kerr Faculty of Graduate Studies is pleased to announce that, following the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Interim Exhibition for the 2018 candidates currently on show in the Concourse Gallery, the final Thesis Exhibitions for our 2017 MFA candidates will be on view. 

These final Thesis Exhibitions will be presented in three parts (schedule below). Each candidate's installation will convey the research that they have undertaken over the course of their two-year program.

A formal thesis defense will be conducted in the presence of each student's artwork. Please note that respective galleries will be closed to the public during the defenses.

The Cinematheque and S3D Centre at Emily Carr University of Art + Design present an evening of adventurous stereoscopic 3D cinema from artists in B.C. and Alberta, showcased in a special program of four short films and one feature.

The Charles H. Scott Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition by Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds. For the past four decades, Heap of Birds has made multidisciplinary artworks that confront the oppression of Indigenous peoples and attest to the artist’s profound bond with the landscape of his Cheyenne and Arapaho homeland.

See Level: MAA Group Exhibition, Charles H. Scott Gallery

Please join the Charles H. Scott Gallery for a panel discussion with Emily Carr University's Master of Applied Arts graduates. The select group of graduates will discuss their work in the current exhibition "see level".

Through a reflective conversation moderated by recent Emily Carr MAA graduate Christann Kennedy, the artists will discuss parallels between their disparate practices, searching for commonalities within their respective research, concepts, places, spaces and surfaces.

Plaskett and Petry Awards Presentation

Associate Professor David MacWilliam and Professor Landon Mackenzie will present the Joe Plaskett and Nancy Petry Awards for 2016 on May 14, 2016, from 3 to 4pm at Equinox Gallery.
