Emily Carr Lecture Theatre | SB Room 301

Volker Gerling’s flip-book cinema has quietly become legendary. Having walked some 3000 kilometres through Germany on foot, Gerling took photographs of people he met during his wanderings, creating portraits in the form of photographic flip-books. He met an old man who wanted to improve the world and almost starved in the process, a homeless woman who wished for nothing more than to see her children once again and a young woman who decided to change her life while on holiday.
