Foundation Show

The Foundation Show is the culmination of student progress shown through the work completed during their first year of studies. The show reflects encouragement to improvise and experiment with new ideas, processes, and materials. Imaginative thinking and creative experiences across a variety of mediums and disciplines fill the galleries and prepare students for future studies.

Graduation Exhibition (The Show) + Honorary Awards

Our graduates mark the successful culmination of their educational journeys with The Show, a public graduation exhibition and celebration. The Show marks the launch of a new chapter in which they take the practices, knowledge and skills earned at Emily Carr into the broader world.

During this time, we also confer our Honorary Awards for outstanding achievement. These include the Emily Award for Alumni and the Honorary Doctorate, the latter of which is the highest degree conferred by the institution.

National Portfolio Day + Events for Prospective Students

Learn about how to apply to your undergraduate or graduate program and prepare your portfolio for submission at National Portfolio Day events in Vancouver and abroad. You can also get one-on-one feedback on your current portfolio work from an Emily Carr representative.

The National Portfolio Day Association (NPDA) consists of representatives from art and design schools from across North America. NPDA is the only organization of its kind and the membership represents the highest standard of visual arts education.
