Oikos (Untitled 1-11)

description

Made by tracing journeys around what are termed ‘burn piles’, these constructed moving and still images are layered with both pattern and meaning.

Ecology is formed from the Greek word ‘Oikos’ meaning house. Guy’s series Oikos (Untitled 1-11) and Oikos II (Moving 1-2) 2007 reflect in their method the circadian sensibilities of nature by recording multiple images from the rotational journey around the burn piles. Also featured in this series is a set of four 35mm panoramic montage photographs. The aesthetic achieved here conveys the size and space experienced within a clear-cut forest, whilst compacting the existence of numerous burn piles into a single view.
