Applied Arts Magazine

This is my design submission to the Applied Arts Magazine Contest. The requirement of the contest was to submit editorial designs for the following pages: the cover, contents page, editor's page, featured article, two articles from the Departments section, and one featured company portfolio.

Since this issue revolves around celebrating fresh talents through showcasing student work, my design concept is to "dress up" the conventional idea of students producing amateur and incompetent work when, really, students can be just as professional. This is the idea that Applied Arts Magazine have been known to promote. I've chosen to work with clean layouts and mechanical typefaces (League Gothic and Six Caps) for a more professional aesthetic. The contrasting element in this design is to exaggerate the idea of these fresh talents as being rising stars of the design world with some glitter and glam.
