By the light of the moon

description

This is an image from a film loop wherein I depicted the waxing and waning cycles of the moon by hole-punching the film and manually re-inserting the hole-punch back over the hole, shifting it slowly over the course of 300 frames. By the light of the moon addresses the materiality of film and the romantic and nostaligic associations it evokes. This piece was displayed on a Steenbeck while a pianist played Claire De Lune (Debussy) from another room.
