The Vinly Experience (The Waldorf Project)

This project was synchronous with the re-launch of the historic Waldorf hotel. The design objective was to document the hotel’s long history and renowned Tiki Bar and showcase it to visitors old and new. The Vinyl Experience is an archive that showcases the hotel’s memories in the form of old pictures, event posters and videos. This took the shape of LP record reminiscent of the hotel’s continued analog style. Users interfaced with the Vinyl experience in much the same way as a disc jockey would interact with a record. The record can spun forwards or backwards in time to find a desired memory or it can be “played”  to cycle through all the memories.This archive also encouraged newcomers to contribute their memories to the collection which is moderated by the Hotel.
