Flyte - I challenge you to play differently.

Flyte is a gaming interface which provides a source of motivation and challenge in rehabilitative therapy for persons with hemiplegia.

If you’ve ever had to undergo physical rehabilitation after an accident you know how hard it is to keep engaged with your therapy program. Therapy exercises are extremely tedious and repetitive. Even more so for a person with hemiplegia, who can only move one side of their body. They spend a great deal of time doing the same exercises and see almost no change which leads many of them to simply give up. The key to therapy is repetition, so how do we keep people engaged? You let them play games as therapy. The first step is to use the FEATHERS controllers which enable a user to use two hands to move a single cursor to play computer games then you incorporate Flyte as a digital personal therapist. As user play games using the controllers they receive prompts which challenge them to be conscious of how they are playing and to do therapy exercises at the same time. Users need the accessibility to therapy without having to go to therapists on a daily basis. Flyte becomes the therapist that users check in with that makes their progress visible and challenges them to keep going. It learns how users play so it can assign challenges that the user should be doing to get better as opposed to what they find easy. It enables user to enjoy therapy by seeing that they are getting better.
