Infusion: Outdoor furniture for Far Coast Coffee

The chosen design to be mass manufactured for Far Coast’s (Coca Cola) social areas during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Specifically designed to further brand Far Coast and to create a socially inviting atmosphere. Infusion's asymmetrical design invites playfulness through its pattern elements, which allows for a variety of arrangements. The project had many requirements including to promote the Far Coast brand, to create a socially inviting atmosphere for their customers, to fit within the coffee culture atmosphere, to use only dimension lumber, to stay within the manufacture budget, and to be assembled through RTA (flat pack) hardware.

Using only the Blue Pine wood found in devastated forests in British Columbia, a set of lounge chairs, a small coffee table, and a standing conference table were designed and manufactured by the UBC's Centre for Advanced Wood Processing.

The furniture collection is installed outdoor in the athlete's village, conference centre, and sporting venues of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
