The Tin Cup

description

This project was an exploration which looked at turing a temporary form, the tin can, into a cherished object. This allowed it to take on a whole new meaning and move away from the notion of being a single use object before becoming a waste material. I explored this idea through stripping away the paper on the outside of the tin can to reveal a beautiful form which is often overlooked. The explorations took shape in two different sizes and the tin cans became drinking cups, for friends to gather, socialize and drink out of. The material that was used to further juxtapose this notion of 'precious waste', was a high quality porcelain which has a feeling of delicacy and quality in comparison to the original material and feel.
