The Stoop

description

We came together with a shared vision for wood waste diversion through sustainable design and peer-to-peer engagement. We believe, that through grassroots intervention we can help shift the way this material is being perceived and moved around urban environments, thus potentially diverting large amounts from ending up in landfills

The Stoop is a travelling bench in Vancouver and our goal was to have it become an active part of the community, to serve as a place for conversation and comfortable social interaction. The tables slide into different positions which can help to divide or open up the space based on who is using it. The Stoop appears at coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants, where it stays for approximately four months at a time. The reason that The Stoop changes location periodically, is to subtly begin a dialogue with a growing network of people around the issue of wood waste in Vancouver.
