Shear Lamp

A kinetic floor lamp that functions as both an ambient light and a task lamp. Prototyped in Beech and aluminum and illuminated with LEDs, the lamps kinentic motion is ment to emulate the removal of wood much like the action of a handplane or spoke shave. In its closed position the bent glue laminated back is illiminated from LED's subset in the post. When the user needs a task lamp they simply slide the collar up and the task lamp protrudes while automatically switching electronic function.
