ILUS 201 SU01: ILUS: Methods + Materials
This course is designed to introduce students to concepts, processes, and techniques of illustration as a means of both creative expression and critical inquiry. Students will learn illustrative methods and approaches through demos, examples, workshops, and lectures. These will be applied to projects within a studio environment. Through undertaking these projects, students will develop a better understanding of the physical and technical aspects of image-making and its specific application to illustration.

Rozita Moini-Shirazi is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work includes drawing, painting, photography, installation and illustration. Her work has been widely exhibited throughout Canada and beyond. Moini's current art focuses on the fusion of different cultures by illustrating the similarities found in all art. Moini has been working as the art director of different publishing companies and taught at post-secondary levels for many years. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Visual arts and has received her master's in illustration. She is a Doctoral candidate at the University of Victoria in the faculty of Art Education. Rozita’s current research interest is the importance of self-identity in shaping the work of the emerging artists and how education can assist them to portray their true being along the way in order to generate original artwork.
