Ellen Tahatakis | Ink Flow

The Emily Carr University Library Window Gallery presents Ink Flow, new works by Ellen Tahatakis ('82) from March 28 to April 11, 2015.

Ellen's new work introduces gold and silver foil to her ink artworks. Ellen states, "There is something incredibly freeing working with ink... I'm in the moment, the works are energetic and spontaneous allowing my intuitive inspiration to flow through me, expressed through quick gestural strokes from ink beaker onto paper. It is one of the most freeing feelings to trust what will flow when you allow it."

Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-athon

Wikimedia’s gender trouble is well-documented. In a 2011 survey, the Wikimedia Foundation found that less than 10% of its contributors identify as female. Content is skewed by the lack of female participation. This represents an alarming absence in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

Let’s change that.

Unceded | Aboriginal Student Art Exhibition

On National Aboriginal Day, June 21, 2013, the Mayor of the City of Vancouver took the extraordinary step of declaring a Year of Reconciliation, a year-long effort that seeks to heal from the past and build new relationships between Aboriginal peoples and all Vancouverites. A year later, on June 24, 2014, the City of Vancouver formally acknowledged that the city of Vancouver is on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. This was an important acknowledgement, as it validates what First Nations have been saying since before confederation.
