Opening Reception | Tuesday, February 28, 7:30PM
Charles H. Scott Gallery

The Charles H. Scott Gallery is proud to present Goodbye Charles, an exhibition that celebrates Charles Hepburn Scott, an artist, educator and our gallery’s namesake, in commemoration of the latest chapter in our history. In the fall of 2017 we will relocate to the new Emily Carr University campus on Great Northern Way in East Vancouver, where the Charles H. Scott Gallery will be renamed the Libby Leshgold Gallery.

This exhibition offers a glimpse into Scott’s creative practice through the inclusion of his paintings, drawings, sketchbooks and writings.

After Hours | An Upper-Middle Class Fantasy by Scott Kemp

An Upper-Middle Class Fantasy, title screen

…the red nylon of your jacket crumples, its neck pushing up and obscuring your mouth. I lean over and dip my still-naked right hand in the water, cupping my fingers to lift out some of the liquid. You shift your weight and fall against me gently. The water drains from my hand…

VISUAL ART FORUMS | K8 Hardy

K8 Hardy. Still from Outfitumentary (82 min), 2016

Join the Visual Art Forum for a screening of artist K8 Hardy's first feature film Outfitmentary (82 min), 2016, followed by a discussion with the artist.

“In 2001, I set out on the structuralist journey that has become my first feature film, Outfitumentary. I named the project at the outset, and considered it a document for posterity, an important record of the dress codes of a radical lesbian underground. The formal rules I imposed were simple: to roll my video camera and capture a shot of myself from head to toe with a turn to provide front and back. Ultimately, I played fast and loose with my own rules, but stayed true to my original intentions” (© K8 Hardy, NY, 2016).
