Annie Briard investigates visual perception paradigms through video, photography and installation. Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions and public art projects across Canada as well as group shows, festivals and fairs internationally, including at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Joyce Yahouda Gallery (Montreal), Three Shadows Photography Centre (Beijing), the Lincoln Film Centre New York (NYC), Matadero Madrid, and the Switzerland Architecture Museum (Basel). She has been awarded residencies in New York City, Spain and at the Banff Centre, among others, and is the recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the British Columbia Arts Council and the Canadian Social Science and Humanities Research Council. Annie Briard holds a BFA from Concordia University and an MFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design where she teaches and manages public engagement for the Audain Faculty of Art. She has previously led NPOs including CARFAC BC and Studio XX.
