Chick Rice
Bio
Chick Rice, artist/educator, graduated in photography from Emily Carr, BFA University of British Columbia, with advanced studies at the Banff Centre of the Arts, and film direction at the National Film Board's Studio D, Montreal. She is the1994 VIVA award recipient for visual art and has taught in photography and communication design faculties at Emily Carr University since 1991. She has served on the Contemporary Art Gallery and the National Magazine Awards boards of directors and is the co-founder of the VADA Award.
Rice has exhibited and published in North America and Europe, both as a commision photographer and photobased artist. Her work is collected by the VAG, Canadian Contempoary Museum for Photography, Morris and Helen Belkin Gallery, and the Canada Council Art Bank.
She was recently awarded The 2012 Ian Wallace Award for Teaching Excellence.
