Through visual, performance, and biological media, David Khang uses visual, written, and spoken languages to investigate interpersonal and interspecies relations. He received his BSc (Psychology) and DDS (University of Toronto), BFA (Emily Carr), and MFA (University of California, Irvine), where he was recipient of the UCI Chancellor's Fellowship. He concurrently completed UCI’s Critical Theory Emphasis, for which he studied with Jacques Derrida, David Joselit, Fred Moten, and Etienne Balibar. His thesis represented UCIrvine in the Distinguished Masters Thesis Competition, Association of Graduate Schools (USA). Khang has exhibited and performed in Tokyo, New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, and Santiago. In 2007 Khang received the Franklin Furnace Performance Art Award (Brooklyn, NY), and in 2010, artist-in-residence at SymbioticA Centre for Biological Art, University of Western Australia (Perth). Khang has also taught at Goddard College MFA-IA Program (Vermont). Khang serves as the president of the Board of Directors at grunt gallery (Vancouver).
