Dr Rory Wallace (BA, MLitt, Dipl, MA, PhD) is an Associate Professor in Critical and Cultural Studies. He has studied literature, art and design for extended periods in Edinburgh, Japan, Paris, and New York. His diverse research interests include the politics of landscape and neo-environmentalism, print culture and the social impact of early information technology, and responsible design in difficult times. He has given papers at recent conferences on subjects as diverse as postcards, the politics of public parks, and the social rhetoric of global warming. His teaching passions include the role of making things - design, art - how it takes on meaning for us, and what we do with stuff we make in a world already full.
