Deborah Koenker is an Associate Professor in Visual Arts. She has taught courses in Drawing, Sculpture/Installation, Print Media, Textile and Critical & Cultural Studies. For the past three decades she has exhibited prints, drawings, sculpture and mixed media installations in public galleries and artist-run centres in Canada, the USA and Mexico. She has received numerous grants in support of this work from the Canada Council and the BC Arts Council. Curatorial projects--including Wanda Koop’s exhibition FACE TO FACE at the Richmond Art Gallery--catalogue essays and reviews form part of her practice. She was a founding member and first Director of Malaspina Printmakers Workshop in Vancouver. Her installations explore social and feminist themes using a range of media including audio, text, narrative, sculptural objects, kinaesthetic involvement, photography, print and textile.
