During my 3rd year at Emily Carr I completed a co-op with Contemporary International, the firm hired by VANOC at the 2010 Games for Event Services and Securtiy. Working as the sole designer with the art director, we created a brand identity and visual set including: environmental graphics, extensive printed materials, advertising campaigns and way-finding systems.

As my thesis for my first semester Grad Project, I wanted to look at the adoption community and see if there were ways through design, improvements could be made.

With and original focus on alleviating anxieties in prospective adoptive parents, I came to the conclusion that the community construct needed to be re-thought, and approached with new eyes.

As part of a class in typographic systems, we were challenged to create a concept commemorative stamp system for Canada Post. Choosing Marian Bantjes was a reflection of my interest in her work. We were instructed to reference both the process and work of the artist/designer we were commemorating. With Bantjes, it became clear that it would be too superficial to work from her calligraphic works. I looked deeper into her book, and attending her talk at Emily Carr University. In the end I...

This project was our 3rd year Core Studio project. The goal was to redesign the BC Children's Hospital Website.

Working in partnership with David Aitken, we developped this site, that includes the traditional resources for Children's Hosptial as well a new Symptom Checker.

We reorganized concept and approached the navigation of the site from an airport way-finding model. The idea being only the information needed at any given moment is offered. This requires a fine...

For our core studio class we developed a packaged set of books. The two books we cut to  "fit" together within the folder package.

The books depicted works of graphic design over the decades, and used the framing of introverted and extroverted work as reference to the socioeconomic status at the time of creation.

Their seemed to be a link between civil unrest and times of change with more "extroverted" types of design. While safer, and more conservative "introverted"...

This was a first semester 3rd year Core Studio project. The goal was to create a redesign for a restaurant that exists in Vancouver, BC. The choice was ours as to which restaurant to focus on and in my search I discovered HAVE Cafe.

This cafe is both a charity and training institute on the Downtown East-side of Vancouver. From a re-brand perspective the challenge came in addressing all of the facets of this entity within its brand.

In our second year core studio class we created a booklet that highlighted our experiments with typography.

I developed a framing concept of "green leaves and plantlife" to frame the principles of we had learned in unison with the class explorations.

    Deliverable saddle stitch booklet.

As part of our 3rd year Core Studio class, we were challenged with developing an infographic to illustrate the plight of the Fraser River Sockeye Salmon.

This interactive piece is intended to be used as a teaching aid or in combination with other print materials.
