I am a visual artist who works with machine embroidery employing techniques from painting.
I have a BFA from the University of Manitoba and have exhibited work in Canada and in the UK. I have received several grants to aid in the creation of work.
I have worked on numerous collaborations and my ongoing collaboration with the writer Elizabeth Dancoes includes a web site at www.liftingourskirts.com. An exhibition of the new work from this collaboration is scheduled for April 2011.
I mainly work with the figure and purely formal structures continue to play a dominant part in my work. I am first and foremost a drawer.
Teaching is an essential part of my creative purpose. As well as at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, I teach in the Textile Arts Program at Capilano University in the Fashion Department at the University of the Fraser Valley.
