    Editorial Narrative inspired by Real Simple Magazine

    An art direction, photography, and layout design project based on the aesthetic and readership of Real Simple magazine. The narrative highlights the significance of the apple harvest season, as well as the growing community of local farmers' markets in Vancouver. 

    The project was a group collaboration with Cat Medeiros, Karen Sung, and Joy Kim.

    Telling a Story with Type: Text & Display

    A complex typography project highlighting a short story, The Hunger Artist, written by Franz Kafka. 

    The objective was to create a large-sized, multi-page folio by combining both narrative text and expressive display type to tell a story.

    Typographic poster inspired by old wood-type posters, featuring the lyrics of the song Ordinary People by John Legend.

    An art direction and photography project based on tissue box designs. With young adults as our target consumer, the concept was to design a different box based on various purposes one would use tissues for, hence the brand name Issue Tissues. The images were photographed based on the intended purpose of the tissue box.

    Brief
    Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach in 2011, Penguin publishers created a competition brief inviting students to design a whole new cover look for this iconic title. In terms of what the judges were looking for, the jacket had to be well executed, imaginative, and cohesive as a whole. Lastly, the cover must clearly be marketed towards both children and adults to encourage new generations of readers.
