      As an avid skier I have experienced the peer pressure and lack of preparedness when skiing out of bounds.  My entire family skies out of bounds unprepared and unaware of the dangers in the backcountry and have been caught and buried in avalanches.

    Skiers who cut underneath boundary ropes should at least carry the essential gear needed if one gets caught in an avalanche.  This includes a transceiver, shovel, probe and notifying friends or family where one is going....

    The goal of this class, Projects in Sustainablity, was to work on a grassroots level to reduce the consumption of paper cups in local coffee shops and apply our design in ways that can be amplified into bigger coffee shop culture.  Through reasearch, user testing and expert interviews we explored ideas of behavior change and sustainable methods of encouraging people to reduce thier paper coffee cup consumption and bring their own tumblers or mugs.

    This lamp demonstrates the clash between two unrelated topics, fashion and lighting.  Having a bright future by working hard can cause one to through their hands up in frustration.  This sculpture allows the fabric, construction and pattern for a collard shirt to come to light and audiences can appreciate the beauty of the soft glowing fabric.

    My mission was to create a fashionable clip for a laptop case for the trend-setting Individual to take from work to dinner.  It was to be made from injection moulded plastic to address sustainability issues of chrome plated steal hardware in the fashion industry.

    Carry Your Light with You.

    Using poetic metaphor and historic human ritual conserving energy when lighting a room can be solved by looking at natural human behavior and what devices people carry with them as an essential tool to light a room.  Working with direction from PowerTech, Switch was created as a tool to control the power consumption of lighting ones home and to ecudate users on their consumption and conciousness of using power.
