Rose L., a Trinidadian-Canadian, grew up near Montreal and began her fine art studies there. She won a province wide logo competition while still in high school and began her professional graphic arts career at age 16. Rose then traveled to the Eastern Townships in Quebec to study theatre arts, modern dance and ceramics at Champlain College/Bishops University. After moving to Britsh Columbia, she received her diploma in Painting and Printmaking from the University of the Fraser Valley and eventually, certification as an Expressive Arts Therapist from Langara College. Rose incorporates into her art practice thirty years of experience as a medical consumer and advocate as well as her unique racial and cultural heritage. Currently stuyding Visual Arts at Emily Carr U, Rose continues to pursue her interests in the therapeutic applications and uses of art for society as well as her own healing journey through life.
